Libra Scale (My Review)

Libra Scale (My Review)

First of all, salutations to everybody. I am Ana, I'm 16, and I am a huge Ne-Yo fan. I am not a new comer, and neither have I been a regular active member of this blog in the past few months, so hi everyone! I actually logged in here a few months ago, in the first place in order to get news about the Gentleman, and indeed posting stuff on a regular bassis (and why not, meeting other Ne-Yo fans), but I didn't know where I wanted to start with...

But, now that I know, I decided to open up a topic about Ne-Yo's latest album, « Libra Scale », which as we all know, has been quite underestimated (some may have another perspective which isn't a problem, but that's the way I see things when I think about this album in particular).

Before I start it off, I just wanted to make this clear to anyone who might not agree with me on this topic; this is my opinion, which means this doesn't have to offend anybody. I know this might not what will happen, but I know there might be some who will think that I speak against their opinion, but then again an opinion is an opinion. To any haters out there, if you have anything to say, well use your damn mind before replying to this thread; at least try to be intelligent and releavant for once, for if you don't, I won't even waste my precious time replying to you.

OK, now that I finished with this, I suggest to get deeper into the topic. I will make little parts and basically explain how it looked like to me.

The concept:

I think it was something everyone could relate to. That's definitely something I've hardly ever seen, after Michael Jackson, that any artist often claimed to do, but hardly ever did. Having a self-question Like in the case of Libra Scale as choosing between Love, money, power and fame, may have been a simple question, but then again something everyone had an answer to. Unlike some other artists (I won't drop any names), Ne-Yo is very down to Earth and chooses everyday life to entertain us with, whithout losing his integrity and class, which is something I personally think is an amazing thing because music was always supposed to be about self-expression, but most likely appears to look like a fashion, nowadays. So going back to the concept, I found it very real and genius of him the fact that he decided not to look outside the box to make this whole project look extravagant and tough.

The inspiration:

I first want to speak about how everyone seems to think copying is what most of artists do. I can partially agree, because artists can follow a trend, but how in the hell can they copy legends such as Michael Jackson? Yes, I mentionned Michael Jackson because it kind of makes me mad seeing: "Look, he/she is a damn MJ copycat, ect..." If they are copycats, then who are you? I don't mean to sound rude in anyway, but the thing is artists are also fans. They've been singing and dancing to his music as much as you did. It just ain't right to get mad at someone who's paying tribute as much as you. Period. Now going back to Libra Scale, I really loved the fact that Ne-Yo was inspired of MJ's short movies to make something new, and also paying tribute to his art. We all know, and Ne-Yo himself knows he may have made mistake (which I don't really concider as a mistake), being inspired of MJ's 'Thriller", but instead of making a 14mins short movie, made 3 short movies from 8 to 10mins, which in the end of the day looked great and became a reflect of Ne-Yo's creativity (Once again, something I hardly ever get to see from artists, nowadays).

Alright. I am officially done. I wanted to open up a topic about Libra Scale, because I saw an article about it yesterday, and I felt as though as a fan, I felt I needed to say something about it. (Here's the article: http://www.bet.com/news/music/2011/09/16/ne-yo-admits-flaw-in-his-last-album.html.

Now, with that being said, I'm ending my subission here. But there's one thing I want from you. I would love you to tell me how you felt about this album and the whole meaning of it. I just seek for exanging thoughts between fans.

Thanx for reading!
