Who is this guy?

This guy has issues. This whole review sounded like a personal problem instead of a professional observation. The constant comparison to Justin Timberlake is so very unmatched. Justin is a pop icon Ne-Yo is well he honestly does not belong to one genre so you can't compare. This guy sounds as if his panies were knotted up and he decided to take it out on Ne-yo. Oh and who curses in a review seriously this guy needs to be fired. He seems to just be going off of what he feels and not what the music really is and for the love of God someone tell him that this wasn't supposed to be an R&B album. Ne-Yo kinda stressed that every chance he got its supposed to be a mixture of everything just something for everyone.

I don't know what CD that person was listening to.

I just got the CD and I listened to it 3 times in a row I haven't bought a CD in a while that I actually liked more than 2 songs. I saw in an interview this a different style than he is used to. I have to give him mass props cause he did a hell of a job and I truely enjoy this CD. Now if you want just the clubbing and booty music then this isn't the CD for you but if you want a CD that has heart and soul and makes you feel the music then this it totally it..

WHAT!!!!

I am so furious about what this guy said about my baby. I would like to put my foot up his !@*@. He is just jealous of Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo is the king of R&B and is nothing like Justin Timberlake. I love you Ne-Yo!

The "guy" has a personal problem

It appears to me that the person that wrote this review has a personal problem with Ne-Yo. Maybe Ne-Yo's music had something to do with the hate he has spewing out of his moutn (you know like maybe someone took his girl or maybe he got dismissed....). Anyway, I hope Ne-Yo's CD breaks the charts and sales records. Then maybe that idiot will learn to watch what he says and be more respectful of the fans that enjoy the music Ne-Yo creates.

Eric Henderson (writer of the review)

I have just looked him up and it seems he does all different reviews, music and films.

There is an option to email him directly, but as I dont use microsoft outlook I am not able to.

He is obviously paid to write something a little controversial so I wouldnt worry about what he has said.

I have never heard of Slant Magazine before this, so I think it shows what kind of level he is writing at (not a very high one!)

The fact Ne-Yo quite obviously stated this was not an R'N'B album shows how much investigating this 'writer' did before doing the review.

Ne-Yo is brilliant and we certainly dont need people like him making people think otherwise!

If you are a fan, be a fan. If not...move on.

Ok, that's one man's opinion...I'm not bothered by his comments at all. Having been a journalism student, I know that sometimes you have to do stories and reviews that you don't want to...so he probably went into the whole thing with a pessimistic attitude. So I'm pardoning him on those grounds.
I've been listening to Neyo since his first album and my up front respect for the man comes from the fact that his music is just that...HIS MUSIC! He writes all the words he sings. How many other artist can say that for themselves? A lot of other artist are singing Neyo's words and getting lots of praise for it. I write constantly and I am inspired by Neyo's scribery because in some songs, I am the girl that he talks about and in other songs I've been in his shoes. (obviously on the other side of the game because I'm a woman) but its all the same. Neyo writes beautifully, he sings wonderfully and he entertains well. I've never met him and probably won't but my job is to be a fan and support his art, thats what I'm doing. So to Neyo and whomever else is reading, job well done, on this album and the previous ones. I have all 3 and I will get the next to come...because I am a fan and because he inspires me. And thats it...

Response to the Album

Its always hard for me to transition from one album to the next. I was listening to Because of You harcore until Year of the Gentleman came out and then I got it and I was like "heeeey...this doesn't sound like the last album." But my rationality let me know that it wasn't supposed to. When I listened to the words, I was like "damn, he did it again!" This album is in my room, in my car, in my bathroom and in my ipod. I even have some songs that didnt make the album that are excellent as well. I just love how he writes! He reminds me of Smokey Robinson back in the day writing for Motown artist. My favorite songs are Fade Into the Background, So You Can Cry, Lie To Me, and Stop this World because  I really feel the story he tells in them. I love the whole album but those songs really speak to me...in volumes. Oh and I LOVE Miss Independant remix. SuperFantabulous! Thumbs up! When he comes to Philly I will be front and center...never you worry.

reviews

This review was rude. Some people just do not have a way with words and are jealous of those who do have them. songs sometimes do not have to entertain people, they can be from the heart to express a point. I'm kind of bothered by that. Oh well, ne-yo will continue to make his so it wouldn't matter what they said.

This album is the shit!

I purchased this cd the Friday it came out. I listened to it once. kind of just going through the tracks. The next day I put it in and really listened to the c.d. Listened to the words and the music. Dammit this is the only cd I have been rockin since then. I also have it with me at work, in the car, in the living room. I love this cd. You can put this cd in and just let it flow. No ffwding. This is the first cd I have just played and played and played non-stop. That speaks volumes. I am actually going to purchase another cd just to support my boy. Biggups Neyo. Great job. Do ya thing like you always do. Brush your shoulder off.
